Dr. Fazlul Huq, BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, DIC, DipEd, MRS, is an accomplished researcher and retired academic whose scientific career spans more than five decades. Formerly an Associate Professor in the School of Medical Sciences, University of Sydney, Dr. Huq led pioneering work in cancer pharmacology, particularly in the design of tumor-active metal complexes, mechanisms of drug–DNA interactions, and combination therapies aimed at overcoming platinum drug resistance in ovarian, colorectal, and other malignancies.

With over 366 publications, more than 3,200 citations, and a distinguished record of mentoring 26 PhD and 5 Master’s scholars, Dr. Huq has made enduring contributions to medicinal chemistry, oncology, and molecular pharmacology. His research group made notable advances in understanding synergistic interactions between platinum-based drugs and bioactive phytochemicals, and his collaborations extended across bioinformatics, toxicology, and systems biology.

Beyond science, Dr. Huq is a prolific writer and poet with more than 73,000 literary compositions, reflecting his broad intellectual range. His poetry collections Mountains, Lakes and Highlands and A Collection of Poems further highlight his creative legacy.
