1. Full Stack Software Engineer (Digital Publishing Platform)

Location: Remote / Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $70,000 – $110,000 per year (depending on experience)

Role Overview

ERA is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to help develop and maintain the digital infrastructure that supports our scholarly publishing ecosystem. This role will contribute to the development of manuscript submission systems, editorial management platforms, and research discovery tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ERA’s publishing and journal management systems

  • Improve platform performance, security, and scalability

  • Integrate digital publishing standards such as metadata indexing and DOI systems

  • Work with editorial teams to optimize submission and peer-review workflows

  • Build APIs and backend systems supporting article publishing and research discovery

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with full stack development (React, Node.js, Python, or similar)

2. Software Engineer – Research Infrastructure

Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-time or Contract
Salary Range: $60,000 – $95,000 per year

Role Overview

This role focuses on building research infrastructure tools that support manuscript processing, article indexing, and scholarly communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tools supporting research metadata management

3. Editorial Assistant (Academic Publishing)

Role Overview

The Editorial Assistant supports the editorial workflow of ERA journals, assisting with manuscript processing, reviewer coordination, and editorial communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage manuscript submissions and editorial correspondence

6. Academic Editors (Volunteer Academic Role)

Position Type: Academic Service Role
Compensation: Honorary position (non-salaried)

Role Overview

ERA invites experienced researchers and academics to join our editorial teams as Academic Editors. Editors oversee the peer-review process, evaluate manuscripts, and contribute to maintaining the scientific quality of ERA journals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage peer review for submitted manuscripts

  • Select qualified reviewers within relevant disciplines

  • Provide editorial recommendations and decisions

  • Contribute to the strategic development of the journal

7. Peer Reviewers (Volunteer Academic Role)
