Abstract
Background: Management Information Systems (MIS) are essential tools for improving healthcare service delivery by enhancing patient care, operational efficiency, and resource management. Healthcare organizations face multiple barriers when implementing these systems although they provide various advantages.
Methods: A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted among 310 healthcare professionals from multiple hospitals, including doctors, nurses, administrative staff, and IT personnel. The structured questionnaire collected demographic data together with information about MIS tools and their benefits and challenges. The study team applied descriptive statistics through frequency and percentage analysis together with inferential statistics using Chi-square tests (χ²) and Beta coefficients (β) and P values to determine statistical significance and effect size in the relationship between MIS adoption and healthcare service optimization.
Results: The study discovered that improved patient care (20%), faster reporting and documentation (15%), and enhanced data accuracy (13%) were the primary benefits of MIS. The main difficulties in this area include three primary issues which consist of system expenses at 25%, personnel knowledge gaps at 20% and organizational resistance to change at 18%. Statistical analysis revealed that MIS adoption led to important changes in patient care (χ² = 12.5, β = 0.45, P = 0.048) and operational efficiency yet other factors showed only minor effects.
Conclusion: The healthcare sector receives major benefits from MIS adoption which transforms patient care operations and generates improved treatment results and faster operational methods and strategic support systems.
