Purpose and Importance

The Annual Referee Index is a key initiative by Paradise journal to acknowledge and honor the invaluable contributions of our peer reviewers over the course of the year. Peer review is the backbone of academic publishing, ensuring the quality, integrity, and advancement of scientific knowledge. By recognizing our referees annually, we aim to celebrate their dedication, promote transparency, and encourage continued excellence in the review process.

What is the Annual Referee Index?

The Annual Referee Index is a published list of all individuals who have completed one or more peer reviews for Paradise within the calendar year. This list highlights the collective effort of our scientific community in maintaining the high standards of the journal.

The index serves multiple purposes:

  • Recognition: Publicly acknowledges reviewers’ essential role in the scholarly publishing process.

  • Transparency: Demonstrates the journal’s commitment to rigorous peer review by revealing the breadth of expert involvement.

  • Community Building: Fosters a sense of belonging and encourages continued participation among reviewers.

  • Career Support: Reviewers may cite their contribution to the Annual Referee Index in their professional evaluations and CVs.

Criteria for Inclusion

To be listed in the Annual Referee Index, a reviewer must have:

  • Completed at least one peer review report for Paradise within the given calendar year.

  • Submitted a review that meets the journal’s quality and ethical standards.

  • Adhered to deadlines and the journal’s confidentiality policies.

Reviewers who decline invitations or do not complete reviews will not be included.

Publication Format

The Annual Referee Index will be published online on the Paradise journal website and optionally included in a dedicated section of one print or digital issue annually.

  • Reviewers’ names will be listed alphabetically with their institutional affiliations.

  • If preferred, reviewers may opt out of public listing by notifying the Editorial Office in writing before the index is finalized.

  • In special cases, additional recognition may be given to top reviewers based on the number, quality, and timeliness of their reviews.

Additional Reviewer Recognition Programs

Alongside the Annual Referee Index, Paradise offers supplementary programs to recognize outstanding reviewers, including:

  • Reviewer of the Year Award: Presented to referees demonstrating exceptional thoroughness, constructive feedback, and timeliness.

  • Certificates of Appreciation: Issued to reviewers upon request as formal proof of contribution.

  • Editorial Board Invitations: High-performing reviewers may be invited to join the Paradise Editorial Board.

How to Update Your Reviewer Profile

To ensure accurate listing in the Annual Referee Index, reviewers are encouraged to:

  • Keep their contact and affiliation details updated in the Paradise manuscript management system.

  • Provide ORCID iDs to link reviews to their professional profiles.

  • Notify the Editorial Office of any changes in their professional status.
