About the Editor-in-Chief
Robert F. Waters, Ph.D. is a distinguished researcher and scientist specializing in precision and personalized medicine. He received his BA in Pre-Medicine (Biology major, Chemistry minor) from Carroll College, Helena, Montana, in 1971. He was directly admitted to a Ph.D. program with a full scholarship at the Montana State University Genetics Institute, where he earned his doctorate in Molecular Genetics in 1975, with a minor emphasis in Biochemistry and Mathematical Statistics. His thesis, titled "A Modified Microbiological Assay of Amino Acids in Hordeum spp.," led to a published patent.
Dr. Waters completed his postdoctoral research and held a faculty position at Kansas State University, focusing on DNA hybridization techniques. He also collaborated with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico under the guidance of Nobel Laureate Prof. Norman E. Borlaug (1975-1977), contributing to several key publications.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he became a specialist in CIS WAN communications, working with notable organizations including CAPLAMAR (Mexico City), the CIA (Langley), British Petroleum (London), and Tyndall AFB (Florida). Later, in the 1980s, he received extensive training in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) from IBM, DEC, Data General, and CDC, where he developed high-volume billing systems for emergency rooms and statistical models for predictive systems.
Dr. Waters played a crucial role in rewriting the national EMT-Basic curriculum for the DOT/NHTSA, a multi-million dollar grant project approved by all 50 states, and worked with the State of Arizona on the “Seatbelt Coalition” and state educational statistics issues. He has taught for over 20 years in medical schools and continues to teach Medical Biochemistry, Medical Genetics, and Biostatistics as a Senior Research Professor at the Arizona State University Biodesign Institute.
Dr. Waters' current research interests include genomics, antivirals, diabetes, cancer, and artificial intelligence mathematics. He remains actively engaged in publishing his findings in leading scientific journals.
